By Default, all active packages will be available to your staff to use for creating new reservations from the calendar drawer. However, in certain situations you may want to hide certain packages from your staff and we'll cover a few of the most common reasons why here. This toggle is designed to intentionally hide packages from you and your staff and remove the package as an option in the calendar drawer when creating new walk-in or direct reservations.
Affiliate Bookings
You may have already considered reaching out to local businesses and establishing partnerships in order to increase your reservation volume. The ability to hide active Packages from your internal staff is at the core of building an affiliate package program with RKd.
For example, let's say that you have partnered with a local hotel concierge and they have agreed to recommend your venue as a fun local activity and even make reservations on behalf of their guests. In exchange for this arrangement, you may have incentivized the concierge with a commission on all reservations that they send your way. In this situation, It will be important that you are able to accurately report on the reservations created by the concierge in order to calculate the commissions each month. To do this, you decide to create a brand new package that ONLY the hotel concierge will use when making a reservation. Next, in order to ensure that you and your staff don't inadvertently use that same package to create a new reservation (and inaccurately increase the commission due), you'll want to deselect this toggle in order to hide the package from the calendar drawer.
Now that you and your staff can't see the package option on the calendar you'll also want to make sure that you don't add the package to your website. Once you send the booking link to your new partner the setup is complete!
These types of partnership can come in many shapes and sizes and include a variety of incentive programs to encourage reservations. Potential partners may include local breweries, business associations, and complimentary activity based businesses. Additional incentive programs might include gift cards, comp'd reservation or comp'd F&B tabs. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your RKd representative for more examples of creative partnerships and incentives or help with any setup questions.
Online Only Packages
In addition to packages created with the intention of only being used by an affiliate partner, you may also want to create packages with discount or promotions that are only available to online customers (and specifically not walk-in or call-in customers). The setup for this is largely the same as above including hiding the package from the drawer except that you'll want to be very selective about where the booking link is posted on your website or on affiliate website.
ROI Tracking
In both of the examples above the core goal is to be able to quickly and accurately calculate incentives to hold up your end of a partnership as well as tracking ROI on specific packages.
