How to Set Up a new Printer Location and Printer in RKd Advanced POS

Created by Paul Sherry, Modified on Thu, Sep 19, 2024 at 8:10 PM by Paul Sherry

Create a new Printer Location

  1. Select Admin Setup from the Point of sale drop down in the left navigation menu
  2. Select Printer locations - Left Nav
  3. Select New Printer Location - top right corner of the screen
  4. Add a printer Location Lame.

This should be a descriptive name for where the printer will be physically located in your venue. For example:

    Front counter

    Server Station

    Back Bar

    Kitchen

    Concession Area

  5. Select the Item Types that should be printed at this location. This can be edited later if additional items types are created at a later date.

For example, if this printer location is for a kitchen, item types may include prepared food but NOT include cocktails, merchandise, or pre-packaged snacks.

Printers assigned to this Printer Location will print order chits (order tickets) according to this selection. One or multiple items types can be selected as appropriate for your venue.

  6. Save & Close

Add a New Printer

  1. Now that a new Printer Location has been created, lets set up a new printer.

Select Printers from the left navigation menu.

  2. Select New Printer - top right corner of the screen

  3. Enter a printer Name.

  4. Enter the printer mac address.

The mac address for your printer may be found on the label printed on the back or bottom of your printer, on a label printed on the box your printer shipped in, and on the test receipts printed while holding feed button and turning on the printer.

Just like every house has it's own postal address, every device connected on a network has a Media Access Control (MAC) address, that uniquely identifies it.

A MAC address is a 12 digit hexadecimal number that is most often displayed with a colon or hypen separating every two digits (an octet), making it easier to read.

Example: A MAC address of 2c549188c9e3 is typically displayed as 2C:54:91:88:C9:E3 or 2c-54-91-88-c9-e3.

  5. Select the Printer Location - where this new printer will be physically located

  6. Choose if this printer will print:

    1. Chits (order tickets)

    2. Receipts

    3. OR Both (Multi-purpose)

  7. Master Chit Printer Toggle - Enabling this toggle will determine if this printer should print ALL chits (order tickets) regardless of Printer Location settings

    OR

If disabled, this printer will only print chits (order tickets) for item types that have been assigned to the associated Printer Location.

  8. Cash Drawer Toggle - Turn this toggle on if this printer is connected to a cash drawer.

If there is no cash drawer, leave it unchecked

  9. Save & Close
