- Open the Location Edit settings for the selected Location
- Scroll down to the Advanced POS section
- Change the toggle from "Disabled" to "In-transition"
- While Advanced POS is in Transition Mode, your facility's RKd settings will continue to operate as they would as if Advanced POS was turned off. However, you may now begin the Adv. POS setup processes without disturbing the standard operating procedures that you are used to.
For example, you may begin creating menus, menu categories & POS items as well as setting up receipt printers, server stations, and cash drawers.

Choose a minimum pre-authorized amount. $1.00 is a good starting point.
Choose a percentage for Pre-Authorization Over Provisioning. If your venue plans to add tips to checks AFTER they have been paid rather than at the same time as check payment, be sure to select an amount similar to the average tip amount.
For example, at the end of a reservation, some venues will deliver a non-signable receipt to the table. The customer will then provide a credit card to be used for payment. The server takes the card to a server station and pre-authorizes the card at the CC terminal for the balance of the check PLUS an over provisioning amount (the percentage selected here). This is intended to ensure that when a tip is added to the next, signable receipt, the credit card will have enough funds to pay the amount in full, including both the reservation balance and added tip.
Choose a percentage for Pre-Authorization Formula Estimated Tip.
If your venue plans to pre-authorize credit cards at the front counter before a reservation begins, the percentage chosen here will be used to calculate the esitmated tip amount included in the pre-authorization amount.
For example, a reservation for 4 guests at $25.00 each will result in a reservation total of $100.00. Choosing the 30% option here will add $30 to the amount that the customers credit card will be pre-authorized for.
In the next step, estimated F&B amounts may also be added to the pre-authorization amount.
Choose a percentage for the Pre-Authorization Formula Estimated F&B.
If your venue plans to pre-authorize credit cards at the time of check-in before a reservation begins, the percentage chosen here will be used to calculate the esitmated Food & Beverage amount included in the pre-authorization total.
For example, a reservation for 4 guests at $25.00 each will result in a reservation total of $100.00. If, on average, you expect that groups will spend abount 30% of the reservation total on additional F&B, choosing the 30% option here will add $30.00 to the pre-authorization total on that customers credit card.
In this example, the venue has chosen 30% for the estimated TIP and 30% for the F&B estimate. This means that a $100 reservation will have a pre-authorization amount of $169.00 rounded to the nearest $10.
$100 Reservation
+
$30 F&B Average
+
$100 reso + $30 F&B = $130 x 30% = $39 estimated tip
=
$170 Pre-authorization amount at the time of check-in
Next, set the 3 suggested tip percentages that will be printed on signable receipts.
Keep in mind that suggested tip amounts will be calculated from the reservation total that may have been paid as a deposit when making the reservation online.
For example, a $25 per person, 4 guest reservation ($100.00) may pay in full online. Let's say that at the end of their reservation they've added $40 worth of F&B to their tab. The amount they owe on the tab is only $40 at the end of the reservation BUT the suggested tip amount will include the full $140.00 as the basis for the suggested tip formula.
Set your POS terminal time out length. This is the amount of time it will take for the POS terminal to go back to the pin screen if there is not activity from a server. Typical time out lengths range from 60-300 seconds (1-5 minutes)
