Basic Resource Type Setup

First things first, What is a “Resource Type”?

A Resource Type is a grouping of a specific type of reservable resources at your facility or venue.  Below is a list of common resource types managed by RKd.

  • Axe Throwing Targets (lanes, bays)
  • Golf Simulators
  • Escape Rooms
  • Party Rooms
  • Mobile Trailers/venues
  • Archery Ranges
  • Gun Ranges
  • Pool Tables
  • Meeting Rooms
  • Ping pong tables
  • Bowling lanes
  • You get the idea…

If your venue has multiple resources types, we recommend that you create multiple resource types to manage them.  This allows each resource type to operate a little differently from the others depending on your choices for the rest of the settings in this section. Multiple resource types will also be displayed on separate calendars in the calendar view and you can switch between them by selecting the Resource Type drop down in the upper left hand corner of the Calendar.

Each resource type will then have a collection of Resources that can be reserved for use for your customers.  For example, your business might have 8 Axe Throwing Targets and 3 Golf Simulator bays.

Resource Type Name

The Resource Type Name should be the generic version of what you call your reservable resources (good examples above).  You can then customize the name of each individual resource when adding resources (Bay 1, Bay 2, VIP Bay, etc)

Singular Name

The singular name should match the resource type name above but without the reference to the activity.  For example, if you are setting up Axe Throwing Targets, the singular name should be “Target”.  RKd uses this when communicating with your customers that they have a reservation for 4 people on 1 target (for example).

Plural Name

The plural name, similar to the above, should match the resource type name above but without the reference to the activity.  For example, if you are setting up Axe Throwing Targets, the plural name should be “Targets”.  RKd uses this when communicating with your customers that they have a reservation for 12 people on 2 targets (for example).

Customer Verbiage Singular

The Customer Verbiage Singular field designates what you call your participating customers and RKd uses this appropriately throughout the platform when referring to a participant.  For example, if you are setting up a Resource Type for an Escape Room business, you might call a participating customer an “Escapee” or an “Escape Artist”.

Customer Verbiage Plural

Similar to the above, simply pluralize your chosen Customer Verbiage.  In our example, this would be “Escapees” or “Escape Artists”.
